The civil engineering department was established in the year 2009 and is gaining popularity as one of the strongest department in JPNCE. It started with a modest intake of 60 and is increased to 120 this year in addition to 60 in the Polytechnic course.
The department has a strong team of dedicated and qualified faculty, specialised in all fields of Civil Engineering along with two doctorates. To enrich knowledge and strengthen the academic activities, the department is drawing experts from various streams of Civil Engineering and arranging invited lectures on various topics.
The faculty members of the department are raring to go with all preparedness in order to make a difference in nurturing the budding Civil Engineers.
Job Prospects
Now-a- days, we are witnessing unprecedented infrastructural development throughout the world. Civil Engineers can find jobs in Government departments, private and public sector industries, research and teaching institutions etc. They are taking up challenging jobs across the Globe. Civil engineers are employed in all the major construction projects carried out by the state or central government, the railways, private construction companies, military, engineering services, consultancy services etc.
Civil engineers will always be needed to maintain and repair existing facilities and structures and to construct new ones. After doing B. Tech, one can look for jobs in road projects, building work, consultancy firms, quality testing laboratories or housing societies. Civil engineering graduates can also go in for research and take up teaching or they can open their own independent consultancy services.
Activities
Civil Engineering students in JPNCE participate in the construction activity of the college by bounding hands with our builders. Apart from this, they are also gaining more practical knowledge on the recent trends in construction by visiting construction sites and research centers in and around Hyderabad. Internships and industrial visits are arranged to gain more practical knowledge.

Civil Engineering is a broad field of engineering that deals with planning, design, construction, and maintenance of different structures like buildings, roads, bridges, canals, dams, water supply and treatment systems etc.Construction has picked up enormously in the recent times, globally. In the national context, it stands next to Agricultural in terms of country's economy and large scale employment potential. The future of the country therefore essentially lies in identifying such sectors as construction industry, developing them and gaining benefit out of them.
In the present scenario there is acute shortage of well trained Civil engineers to cater to the needs of construction industry and there by the role of Civil Engineering in the field of technical education is gaining importance. The quality of education plays a vital role to meet the requirements of the industry. JPNC is one such institution which strives to impart quality education and is located at Dharmapur vill, Mahabubnagar,Telangana.
There are many consultancy firms and construction companies in and around Hyderabad city, some of worth mentioning organizations are GMR Constructions, Lanco Hills, Tata Consultants, SEW, Kirloskar, Prasad constructions, Manjeera constructions, Srinivasa Engineering, SMR developers, DLF, L&T/Ultra Tech, Janapriya Engineers Syndicate, National Academy of Construction (NAC),Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), Builders association, M/s S. Krishnaiah & Sons and KMC, JJ Associates, Soham Constructions, IVRCL etc.
The civil engineering department was established in the year 2009 and is gaining popularity as one of the strongest department in JPNCE. It started with a modest intake of 60 and is increased to 120 in addition to 120 in the Polytechnic course. The department provides extensive lab facilities in the areas of Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics, Remote Sensing, Geospatial Information System and Surveying. It also has a library with varied collection of books and several facilities.
The department has well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty for teaching, research and consultancy works. The department has a rich ambience of spacious classrooms and laboratories which is conducive for learning and training. To promote academic and research cognizance among faculty, staff and students, the department is actively involved in organizing Seminars/Symposia/Workshops. The department has also conducted Civil Engineering Fest "NIRMAAN" the years 2016 & 2017 very successfully.
It should be mentioned that very good academic environment and the meticulous efforts of faculty and supporting staff have enabled the students to bring laurels to the department and institute by securing the highest ranks in the university. During the Academic Year 2015-2016, the 1st Rank in Civil Engineering among all the affiliated colleges of JNTU was bagged by the student of JPNCE. The department is also able to achieve a high pass percentage in the university examinations in every year. Not only that, in Placements front too, the number of students from the Civil Engineering department, who got placed, has surpassed the number from several other institutes.
The department relentlessly promotes research and consultancy. The main areas of research include Structural Engineering, Geo-Technical Engineering, Highway Engineering and Water Resources Engineering.
The department also offers various consultancy works to government and private organizations.
